Omega Soy ®

Omega Soy® is produced with isolated soy protein and highly purified USP grade omega-3 fatty acids: alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA).

Soy is highly nutritious and has been used as food and medicine for 4000 years in China. Nutritional studies indicate that soy protein contains all essential amino acids that the human body cannot produce and has the highest protein digesting converted amino acid score (PDCAAS), the standard used to evaluate protein quality, along with casein and egg white.

In addition to highly nutritional proteins, soy has isoflavones or phytoestrogens with chemical structure similar to estrogens, including genistein, daidzein and glycitein, which are exclusively found in soy food. Isoflavones have been shown to lower the "bad" LDL cholesterol, reduce the oxidative stress, inhibit thrombus formation, and improve vascular compliance, consequently leading to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. Genistein isolated from soy has been shown to inhibit the growth of hormone-dependent breast, ovarian and prostate cancers. Soy protein and/ or soy extract effectively reduce osteoporosis as well as menopausal symptoms.

On October 1999, the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved a health claim that foods containing soy protein low in saturated fat and cholesterol may help reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. Studies indicate that daily consumption of 25 grams of soy protein is required to have a significant effect on reducing the levels of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and triglyceride. The FDA health claim requires that a food must contain at least 6.25 grams of soy protein per serving, equal to one-fourth of the total effective amount.
